If a family member takes care of my child while i work, can i include this in my income tax return? |
If I have a family member take care of my child while I work, and i pay them an arranged amount of money every month, can i include that in my income tax return to get money back for it?? I did not keep any receipts as prove of payment, will this matter? Thank you for your help on this matter!!! You can claim a child care tax credit on Form 2441 but it requires the name and SS number of your family member who will be forced to report it in their return. Be careful when you ask -they may quit. yes you can, but they also have to claim that they recieved that money when they file The family member may have to pay taxes. Quit being so cheap and trying to get over on the member. Do you provide medical and do you take taxes and match the FICA you take out. Quit trying to treat it as a business unless you pay them a legitimate amount of pay. Tell the family member what your doing. THey will allso have to report that income if it was over a certain amount. But yes you can claim that on your taxes, I would advise you to pay by check or money order from now on. Yes and no you need receipts in case you get audited in the future, you can only claim this if you make under a certian amount of money and you can only claim so much in a life time, for example, this past year I got married and now that we have to file together he makes more money and I can only claim about 900 worth of child care expenses for the whole year but I paid out 5280.00, it's kind of screwy the way that this works I would ask someone from the local IRS department for help if you are planning on filing your taxes yourself if you are taking to someone then they should be able to help you with all of the little details that go along with your question! Best of Luck I hoped that I helped a little! |
