Should we be able to claim child on taxes this year? |
My husband pays 400 a month and only gets her everyother weekend. She lives off the state(medical, rent ,etc) and goes to school for free(thats nice huh). I just think its fair shes five and has never gotten to claim her hes a good man . Why isn't her father paying her medical expenses? Why isn't he contributing more towards her support so that she doesn't have to life off the state? If all he is contributing is $400 a month then he really isn't contributing all that much. It costs a hell of a lot more than just $400 a month to take care of a child for a month. My ex has always claimed our daughter but he pays her medical/dental/vision expenses, he also pays her college tuition as well as her books, when she was younger he paid for her school supplies and he pays $750 a month in regular support so I figure it only fair that he be able to claim her. But I don't see where your husband has the right to claim his daughter As for only getting to see her every other weekend, if he wants to he can go to court and see if that can be changed if he wants her more often. Child support has NOTHING to do with visitation, child support is not payment to see the child the problem is that the mother has her more than the father, that determines who gets to claim her. There are only three options on who claims her. Your husband, her mother, or her. I think whoever financially supports her the most, should get the claim............... Also keep in mind that the daughter might need to claim herself, in order to keep her scholarships/financial aid............ |
