Child support and taxes? |
The father of my kids has two child support orders he owes taxes on, how do they decide who gets what? I think you are trying to say that they are taking his taxes??? Whoever, has the first order will probably get the most money. I didn't think child support got taxed. I get child support from two different men (i garnished their wages) and I don't pay taxes on it and he don't pay taxes on it. He also don't get a tax credit. So I don't think child support has anything to do with taxes. I think some responders are reading your question differently than you intended. I live the situation, so I knew what you were talking about. :) Let me make sure ... You have a child support order against your ex for your child(ren) and he has another child support order from a second woman. You want to know which of you gets his income tax refund? If that's your question..... my answer is: according to my source at the child support office in my county, they are divided, not equally, but by percentages according to the amounts and # of children. what state do you live in??? thier is no tax on child support. the person who gets it does NOT pay taxes on it, and the person who pays it does not pay taxes on it. However the person who pays it can claim it on thier taxes to help with deductions. Maybe he owes back support, but Taxes??? call your local child support enforcment unit and get the details from them. they split the ammounts depending on who he owes the most to. I agree with the lady free bird. They are keeping his taxes to pay back child support. What happens they will split his returns and you all get an equal share if he owes you back support. if not it all goes to what is owed. |
