Can you file child support on income taxes? |
We are trying to figure out if you can file child support on income taxes..we know that there is a section for child care..would this be the same?? Its a question Im asking for a friend of mine..if anyone has any idea please respond.. So, let me get this straight. You don't work. You produced children and decided to not live with the father. He pays for you. And you want the government (a.k.a. taxpayers) to pay you even more? Can you be any more of a drag on society??? No, actually his wife is the one who doesnt work and is wanting the government to provide more money..I, myself work my *** off every day..you may wanna read the question before making false accusations on the opposite party..so..try again Of course not. Check with a CPA or get a booklet from the IRS. The IRS has a help line , an 800 nunmber you can call. The person who pays the child support does not take a deduction for it and the person who receives it does not take it into income. It can be used to show that someone provides the support for a child an therefore qualifies them to take the child as a dependent on their tax return. No. It is not taxed and it can not be used for EIC. |
