Why is our Tax System 180 degrees from how it should be? People with the MOST children, pay the LEAST Tax!? |
Overpopulation is the #1 problem facing our planet! And yet, out Tax System REWARDS you for having MORE Kids, by keeping MORE of your paycheck! Childbirth is a CHOICE! If you choose to have TEN kids, you shouldn't be rewarded, by having to pay LESS Tax! YOUR Kids need the Healthcare! YOUR Kids need the schools built, etc! Single people should NOT have to pay MORE, because they choose not to ADD to our overpopulated planet! The government is unfortunately less inclined towards preventing problems, such as overpopulation, and more inclined towards fixing current ones, such as providing food for the ten children in a family. I definitely hear what you're saying though, and I think a tax benefit should be given as incentive for not having children. Talk to your congressman. Unfortunately, though, I doubt you'll make any progress on this problem under the current administration. i agree. it is a leftover idea from when big families farmed When you have a lot of kids you need all the money you earn just to maintain the family. The tax system needs to be redone anyway, but people who need the money should get it back. you can thank libs for that my friend. Because as a society we choose to incentivise certain activity that we think is valuable. Given that the US birthrate is still increasing and Europe is having significant trouble paying for social services because their population has been stagnant for the better part of a decade, I have no problem with it. Also, it should be noted that most people who have more than one child are not rich. The child tax credit is one thing that Clinton instituted that is now largely responsible for many inner city and suburban minority women pulling themselves out of poverty. The idea is simple. Society needs children to survive, let's make it easier on single women, and families in general, to bear the burden of those children... Now, I completely agree that we should not be subsidizing 10 children for anyone, that's terrible for the environment. We should have a larger tax credit for the first two children, and it should drop off quickly after that, so that by the time you're having kid #5 you don't have any more tax credit... In the end though, overpopulation is not generally a problem that first world countries have. We are using up many of the natural resources, but the bad thing is that we seem to be using them all up just fine without needing to have lots of children to do it. What we should be doing is expending family planning services in 2nd and 3rd world countries to help those women get access to birth control and education. This, combined with conservation programs in 1st world countries, would go 10X farther than anything else, and would be infinitely cheaper.... Unfortunately our president does not want to look at the mountain of statistics supporting my statements because it doesn't fit with the right's agenda... |
