Can federal taxes be taken for child support payments?

Child support is not deductable by the payor.
Child support payments are not tax deductible for the payor and not includable in income of the receiver.

Another important tax rule pertaining to child support is that when payment is made for alimony and chil support together in one amount and if there is any shortfall the amoount will first be applied to child support and only then to alimony.
