How do i make my voice heard about the taxing of the universal child care benefit? |
I just read in the newspaper today that the Universal Child Care Benefit will be considered a taxable income. I am a young single mother and I'm completely shocked and outraged that they would do this! That extra $100 every month really was the relief that they said it would be, but to find out that my tax return will suffer because of it counter acts the good that it did. If anyone else knows how to let the struggling parents voices be heard on this matter please let me know Well as a single mother you receive more of a return than what you actually paid via the EIC. I only think that it is fair that at the end of the year you DO NOT get a bonus for having children. I have a 7 year old son that not only do I pay for our healthcare myself...but at the end of the year I still owe at times. I as a taxpayer should not be required to help give you your annual bonus. SORRY! So to answer your question...instead of complaining that you won't be getting your $4000 tax refund...be thankful that your child has health care. Millions of children do not! Marc---it is NOT my job to financially support other peoles children. I have enough responsibillity in my life to have no more children than I can afford. More people should try it. Vote Republican. Democrats will eventually tax the air you breathe. To answer your question without value judgement, contact your congressional representatives. You can find out who they are by going to http://www.senate.gov and http://www.house.gov. Both sites have tools at the very top of the page to help you reach them. Every family with children should receive not only tax credits, but also FULL EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE until 21, including FREE CHILD CARE for every child - no income test. Children are the responsibility of the entire nation -- including people without kids -- that's why America taxes ALL property owners to finance schools and colleges. If we pay for their education, why don't we do something truly 'family values' and give total FREE child care to every family? Every other civilized country in the industiral world has this level of compassion and intelligence about our children -- what's wrong with America -- are you really bitter cheap skates?! You spend money to bomb children in Iraq, but you won't spend money to help your neighbor's children? What would Jesus do, for God sakes you noisy Evangelicals, to help his neighbors' children? Suffer the children to come unto me . . . Remember that you guys? Hello? |
