What's the diff. between filing taxes jointly with a child dep or filing single with 2 deps?

I am employed full time. My wife does not work outside the home. To get the full potential of our return back each year, is it better to file jointly with a child dependent or better to file single with two dependents?
I currently make less than 26000.00 yr so I qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit but would like to make the most of our return.
Any suggestions?

You cannot claim an adult (spouse) as a dependent, only your minor children living in the home, and you are married so you cannot file single. You must file jointly with one dependent...that is your proper tax classification.
Since your wife has no income filing jointly is most likely to your advantage. If you are married filing separately, (you cannot file "single" if you are married) you would not be eligible for the EIC.
if you claim during the year then they take less taxes out and the less you will get back at the end of the year it is better to claim 0 and then claim your two kids so you will get alot back at the end of the year
Married Joint is the best for your situation. Single with an extra dependant would be fraud. Since you are married you will have to file joint in ofder to get the Earned Income credit.
