Should we create competition for tax dollars amongst schools to improve the education of our children? |
Do you think if the US gave education vouchers, (taking the money from the district the student previously attended school in), to help pay tuition and other costs of attending private school it would make the public schools perform better. That's exactly how it happens in business. Produce fully accountable results which show you are worthy of repeat customers spending their hard earned money on or die on the vine. Hey but what the hell - to use an overused liberal cliche (which of course they can't or won't back up with anything more than worthless rhetoric)- kids are our most valuable asset. dang right No, it is not a level playing field as it is. The public schools must educate everybody that walks through its doors. The privets can pick and choose. Therefore they get a more educate able group. It is not fair at all to hold public schools to the same standard. If you do this...you're cutting funds to public school... obviously. Public schools are having a hard enough time working with the money they do have (especially since No Child Left Behind instututed a bunch of programs, but didn't fund any of them) ... taking more money away would do a lot of damage to the system and everyone that goes to public school would feel the impact. Every student who couldn't afford a private school would have an even more sub-par education than they get now... so America would fair even worse in education, which would provide an even more uneducated workforce... except for those students who could afford private school (the credit would clearly not pay for all tuition to most private schools) In other words... the rich would get the same education for less money and it would be taking the money away from the poorer schools and students to pay for it... I think our school system is fragile enough without funding rich kids to go to private school... |
