Hard to say. You may end up with legal problems if someone notices. I'd suggest you find a good lawyer you can use if it ever comes to that, and then just get on with your life while keeping an eye out for anything happening.
no if you no who did it then you need to tell the place you file and then go from there i went threw this with my mom she claimed my daughter with out my knowledge so just talk to whom ever you file with and clear it up
I think you might. I ran into a problem when there was a miscommunication between my sister and I. She claimed me but I didn't know so I tried to file online myself. Imagine my surprise when I was charged $50 for services because someone had already claimed me! And on top of that, I didn't get any money from all my work...You should be careful and ask whoever does your taxes. If they're claiming your children, they might also have access to your other personal information.
Um, that would be illegal (providing you have custody).

In this case you need to let the IRS know what happened. They will tell you how to get the matter cleared up. Frequently, this happens in new divorces where a parent is unsure who gets to claim the children. But, it is stated in your seperation/divorce agreement.

Don't let this person get away with that. You are raising the kids full time and that's why the judge granted you the break in the first place.
Who? Their dad? Does he have the right to claim them? The only people who can claim children are the legal guardians. Anyone else is claiming them illegally. This can be fixed (so long as this person is uneligible to claim your kids) by sending in an amended tax form. Look up www.irs.gov...there should be some info there about that.
My fiance had that problem the first year his daughter was born. His daughters grandma took it upon herself to claim his daughter, and he also claimed her, in the end his mother had to pay the money back. If you didn't give permission for the to be claimed by someone else, I would call the IRS right away, because if you don't, and you also claimed the kids, there will be some kind of trouble.
yes that is correct about divorce couple's, when me and my ex got a divorce he was able to claim the two youngest children that year because I was out of work. The next year I did childcare services for a couple of my friends and they claim it on there taxes so, I had to filed taxes and my ex didn't know this and he tried to claim the children again and I got a letter from the IRS saying that duplicat social security numbers were being used and I ask my ex and he said he claim the kids again and he wasn't suppose to so, I called IRS and he had to pay back the earned income credit he got for my children.
