Why does everyone have to pay the taxes for schools even if they dont have children? |
In response to my last question about tax breaks for parents, its not my problem THEY CHOSE to have kids. So why in the heck do I have to pay certain taxes and then they just get those taxes back each year. Shouldn't people with children pay more to support the resources that kids use? because people without children payed taxes that helped YOUR education. the system is already underfunded, and education is one determinant of how cabable and strong our society is - it's an investment in the future, and everyone should support that. I'm with you; however, schools are funded by the government, and where does the government get its taxes? The American public. And a large population of the US does not have kids, so these taxes apply to the ENTIRE population, not just the Child-Bearing population. Hope this helps. It takes a village... We are all responsible to help raise our children. I also think that you should have the right to spank them if they're out of line since your tax money is paying for their education... ;-) I agree with you. Unfortunately, the breeders seem to have a higher status in our society even though having offspring is no great feat. Dandelions and cockroaches do it and no one gives them accolades. so they won't be surrounded by illiterate uneducated fools, take your pick What would you have done with out your education? Think of it as paying back a little of what you learned, your parents paid for what they learned.. etc. etc.. back through time. Personally it takes a lot more to run a school then what the people in the community pay in taxes. Then also think of some of the good some school's do. I know my daughter's school does a lot of charity drives and they also do a lot of raising money for the school. Ask any parent how they feel about fundraisers?? lol. I encourage my child to do all the above because its another way for her school to achieve the goals they want with out having to go for government funding all the time. For the same reason that people who don't have a car have to pay taxes to maintain roads. And that people who don't have animals have to pay a small amount to help animal shelters. And that people who have homes, have to support the homeless or poor. You obviously know nothing about taxes. You also don't understand the cost of raising a child. The "tax breaks" that parents get are a joke. You only get those breaks if you make below a certain amount of money. Yes, you can claim more on your W-4, but all that means is that the gov. withholds less, which means that you'll probably end up owing when income taxes are due. Also, such a small percentage of your taxes actually goes to education. You need to be respectful of the school systems. Just because they aren't your kids, doesn't mean that you don't have the responsibility to help ensure their success. These kids are tomorrows leaders. Wouldn't it be a shame if all of our children were poorly uneducated because of people like you who don't know how to look at the bigger picture, who don't want their 1% of their taxes going to help tomorrow's leaders? Educate yourself before you rant about things. |
