Is there any way to lessen the taxes of a single person because he has 4 dependant child?

i have 4 kids but not married to their father, were both single, but dont have plan of getting married because of our parents,my lived in partner is the only one who works in the family, every payday,he has big withholding taxes deducted from his salary because he is single.is there any way or process to do to lessen his taxes?

If the children are biologically his, he would be able to claim them as dependents, and file as head of household rather than single, so his withholding should be small unless his salary is huge.

If they are not his biological children, then he can't claim them as dependents or file as head of household - Pepsi... is wrong on that.

He might also be able to claim you as a dependent if you have no income, he supported you, and you lived with him ALL year. Claiming you would not qualify him for head of household status, but if the kids are his, he's already OK there.

Side comment - if you're old enough to have four kids, you're old enough to get married without your parents' approval..
If your lived in partner is the father of your 4 kids then he can file as head of household and also can claim the 4 kids as dependents on his tax return. If he's not the father, he can still claim them for filing as head of household if you do not claim them or their father doesn't claim them. I have included an article about head of household guidelines.

He can fill out a new W4 form at work and change his number of allowances. If he is claiming zero, he needs to change it to at least 1 or 2 and then they will not take as much out of his paycheck every payday. Sounds like if he files HOH and claims your 4 children since he is basically supporting them, then you will probably be getting a refund back anyway in 2008, so it should not matter that not as much is taken out of his paychecks every payday as far as owing taxes goes next year. And, by that would give you a boost in your weekly take home pay immediately if he does change his W4.

Here's a link you can use to figure it out as well:

Where it says "number of federal allowances" you can see how by changing the number from zero (which is the highest amount taken out) to at least 2 or more, you will get a lot more back every payday to use for your family which is what you need right now.
