I am attending community college full-time and have a 4.0 GPA. I am 36. What loans/grants can I qualify for?

To give you an exact list would be an injustice because the list would be massive. Your age would not be a factor in determining your qualifying status.

Fill out your FAFSA form and those grants that are funded by the government for which you qualify will be applied. Talk to your financial aid advisor at your institution to find out about other loans, grants and scholarships.

Your age may be a factor in certain types of scholarships for older adults. Conduct an internet search to see what you may find. Source(s): www.fafsa.gov
I work at a community college
Depending on your income, you may be eligible for Pell grants, which you don't have to pay back. I took out a Stafford loan from Sallie Mae, which I've been paying back for 7 years and still owe $12 K...

Contact your school and ask them.
You qualify for federal government loans, which are the best student loans you can take out.

To get a federal government loan you should follow these steps:

1) Fill out the FAFSA. This will determine if you are eligible for financial aid. Go here:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

2) Once you are eligible for aid, choose a government-based student loan. The best loan to get is a Federal Perkins Loan. These have low interest rates and the government will help you pay it back as long as you stay enrolled in school. You also don't need a cosigner or good credit for it. For more info go here:

3) The next best loan to get is a Subsidized Stafford Loan. This has many of the same benefits as a Perkins Loan. Learn more here:

You also qualify for grants and scholarships. You can read about scholarships here:

You can qualify based on your income eligibility, for

Federal Pell Grants
Stafford Loans
Perkin's Loans

There are also different grant specifications based on your financial need. For instance I received the Pell grant, plus took a Stafford loan (both subsidized and unsubsidized) as well as a grant from the state of Indiana (Frank O'Bannon) for higher education. Based on your income you may qualify for and FSEOG and other grants as designated for your state. Check the following websites:

These sites should help you. GOOD LUCK!!!!
