Need help with finding college loans and really fast.?

I have an underage daughter who needs to pay for college. We are at a stand still because parents are unable to co-sign loan due to prevoius loans. She needs money fast. We are unsure of where to look and are afraid she may have to withdraw from college. Please help, already applied for FAFSA and Sallie May. Unable to provide other co-signers.

If your daughter is having trouble getting money for college, then she needs to get a job and and start looking for scholarships. I am about graduate from college. After scholarships, grants, and federal loans, I have paid the majority of what was left by using all the money I would make in a summer and by gettin a work study job (all of the money I make from workstudy goes to tuition). Also, there are HUNDREDS of scholarships out there that she can apply for, usually by writing a short essay. Lots of scholarships from private organizations are sometimes only a couple hundred dollars, but every little bit counts. www.Fastweb.com is a website that lets you search for scholarships for free. Also, chech to see if there are any federal grants or private scholarships that are for what she is studying. For instance, there are two new federal grants for undergrads studying science. It takes a lot of work to look for scholarships and apply, but it will be worth it in the end.

It may be the case that your daughter has to be poor during the school year, but I've done it for 3 years and am about to do it again. It's not that bad, and your not being a bad parent. Obviously you do what you can, but it is alright if she has to forfeit eating out in order to be able to attend school.

If all else fails, she can always transfer to a state university.

P.S. Make sure that you talk to the financial aid office at her school. You can always appeal and ask for more need-based grant money. Also, if she gets her grades higher, she might be elligible for more achievment based scholarships.

FAFSA gives what it can. The university financial aid department can give suggestions. I got nothing from FAFSA, but had student loans (that I did not need a cosigner for) from the university providers. Set up an appointment.
