What will happen if I register to 2 different colleges.(loan wise)? |
I've been accepted into my top 3 schools and plan on registering for my top 2 schools because they need confirmation by may 1st. What will happen if i do ? What about the financial Aid /loans, from both schools i have to fill out this letter in order to receive my loan money. If i confirm that i'm going to that school and that i want the loans, but end up going to a different school will i still be responsible for those loans? Don't double-register. For one, the sooner a school knows how many students are ACTUALLY coming to a school, the sooner they know if they can accept someone off the waitlist. And by the time you let them know (after May 1), that person they wanted off the waitlist may be happily settled somewhere else. If you false register, you run the risk of your admissions being rescinded to BOTH schools if the schools should happen to find out--and it has happened before. Many colleges share admissions list for this very reason. And your high school will be sending a final transcript to one school only. If they find out that you have double-deposited, they are ethically obligated to inform both schools. Additionally, schools have to make plans for their fall semester, such as housing, orientation, figuring out how many sections of freshman classes to hold, etc. If enough people "double deposit," the number of students actually coming may be way off. Read this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/show... Bottom line: Don't do it. It's a tough decision, but you have nearly a month to make it. Thousands upon thousands of high school students have to make the same decision--and they're doing it; so can you. The deadline is May 1 for everyone (unless you're waiting on a waitlist; then it's acceptable to make a deposit to one school with the understanding that you may be accepted off a waitlist for another school--but it's still ONE school that you send a deposit to). If everyone double deposited, it would be a mess. Good luck. |
