If you take out a loan for college, how can you apply some of the loan award towards buying books? The refund check is the easiest way, but you can also fill out a Title IV form (your school wil know what it is) which will allow the school to apply your loan money to expenses other than tuition and fees. My school gives out book vouchers to people who do this, but they have to go to the school bookstore. (This is also an alternative way to get your meal plan covered.) Cash the check and buy the books. Pretty simple really. go to the school book store, show them the check and they will deduct the money for the books. When you apply for the loan ask for an amount greater than what you actually needed for. After that your loan company will send the money to your college. After they have used all that they need they will send you a check in the mail and you just put in the account and use it for books. The college will send you a check for the difference between your loan amount and the tuition amount. If this is your first semester, you will probably need to find your money elsewhere because they tend to hold the check for a few weeks in the first semester. whatever is left after your tuition is paid will be sent to you use that surplus to buy books and anything else you need once you pay the school, all of the overpayment should be sent to you. And you may be able to charge your books through your school account. |
