Credit checks when moving into an apartment, help?

I have zero credit! I have never had a credit card. I know they require credit checks, I do have excellent rental history.
I have never had an eviction notice. the place I want to get in is where I lived 6 years ago, and had rented there for 6 years with no rent problems..so in checking my credit, is it possible they would check my electric, gas, phone, cable, history??
those too I have great history. I just have no credit cards.
they know from past, I was never late on my rent there.
I have enough money for first months rent as well as the deposit..would the utilities ive paid on time be enough for credit??

Your new landlord will attempt both a credit and criminal background check. In advance you may want to get a letter from your utility companies, indicating that you have been a good payor. Also, some credit bureaus allow you to use utility bills (including cable bills) as a way of creating a credit history.
You must have some form of credit. Have you even checked your credit online yet?

You might need a co-signer if you do not meet the minimum credit rating (usually 600)

I highly suggest applying for a credit card and making monthly payments on time so you can build some credit up.
Having NO credit is actually WORSE than having bad credit.

As for your electric, rent, cable etc.. it all depends if they reported it to one of the 3 firms.
Go to http://www.equifax.com/home/ and get your report, it will help you in the future.

Good luck with your move.
