Is Fairstream of Evansville, In a reputable credit counseling organization? I don't know about this specific one, but be careful...many of these organizations are doing something that you can do yourself and then charging a monthly fee to do it...it looks like a deal because your payments are lower...but they can charge $60 a month or more. Call your credit card companies and explain your situation...ask them for a reduced interest rate to pay cards off. You will not be allowed to charge on the cards as you pay them off. Then call a one time fee or even a free credit counseling agency (they are out there...try getting info through the Better Business Bureau) I'm not sure any credit counseling organization is reputable. By asking this question, I would assume that you're in debt and seeking help. The best solution is to get yourself out of debt instead of seeking credit counseling or debt consolidation. Oftentimes, credit counseling shows up as a negative mark on your credit report. I'm in the process of building a website that helps people get out of debt. They are excellent in my opinion.I have not had any problems and they send updates by mail about your accounts. They are FREE, but they ask you if you care to make a donation. You can decline or give them what you want, $5, $10, $20. It' s up to you. I reccomend them. They are pretty helpful and you can talk to the same counselor each time you need to ask a question instead of different ones. |
