If a person from the U.S. moves to Canada and gets citizenship, does that person have a new credit line? |
Does Canada have a different Social Security and Credit system? Would a person be able to move there and start with a clean slate (no debt)? My friend has been talking about moving to Canada and I just wondered if this would be one of the benefits. Nope. When they do a credit check, they ask for prior addresses. If they see you've lived in the US, they will get your SSN and check on your US credit history. I'm gonna say...no. No, the persons credit rating will be accessible to whomever they apply for credit with. Remember that many and most retail businesses in the U.S have branches in Canada, and Vise Versa No, not a chance. You can't run up big debts, move to Canada, and then expect to start over with snow white credit. NO !!!!!!!!!! To answer your details - we do have something like an SSN, only we call it SIN (Social Insurance Number). You would not be coming here on a clean slate. |
