Pay Credit card using on-line banking? |
I just noticed when I pay the credit card online the money takes a few days to go out of my bank account, but the card is paid on the same day. I assume that It is possible for one person who doesn't have money in the bank account pay the credit card online and before the credti company tries to withdrawn the payment from the bank account this person spend the whole credit card. LOL!! I now this is fraud and the person can be sued, but is this really a fault in the credit card system? (I will never do this I have a wonderful credit, this is just a hypothetical and scary question fro the credit card companies. LOL!!! If the payment doesn't clear, you'd be in for a world of trouble. The bank usually puts a hold on the money. The way it's worked when I've paid my credit card is that there will be a notice that it will take a few days for the payment to clear and the money will be left in my account. I don't want to see the overdraft fees associated with a botched payment. (I pay my credit card off with plenty of time to spare and usually part of the next statement so I won't even have a minimum payment just in case I'm in some freak accident... I'm weird like that.) It depends on your bank. However usually when you pay on line they go thru the computer magic stuff and have put a hold for that amount on your account. Same as when you use a credit card to pay for gas. When they call in they get a authorization for a certain amount and when you get to that amount the pump shuts off. |
