Is it safe to give your credit card number on line? I'm kind of uptight about that and unsure.? If you want to purchase something on line, there are two things that you should look for. When you are on the page where you will enter your info, look at the bottom right hand corner of the window. If the site is secure, there will be a closed padlock symbol. Also, the URL will begin with https (instead of just http). There are some sites where you can order on line and then call a number they give you to give the payment details to them by phone. When a site is secure, it means that you can give them your information without having to worry about someone intercepting it somewhere along the line. Well, I wouldn't. If you're unsure, then don't do it. You should only do it on sites that you know are reputable. YEAH!!!!! SEND ME YOUR NUMBER ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EX CON Try to pay the merchant through paypal. But, most respectable merchants have major security in place to protect you. I buy stuff all the time online with my credit card. In 10 years, I've had one problem, and that was mostly my own fault for ignoring fine print. And all I had to do was call the bank, get it refunded and get a new card (took 2 days). Living a life in fear is no fun at all. |
