Where on-line can I get a free credit report and free credit score.(No credit card needed)? Don't go to freecreditreport.com; the fine print says they will sign you up for some stupid credit monitoring service that costs $12.95 per month. Just Google them and you'll see they are being investigated for false advertising by the FCC. That being said, annualcreditreport.com is the actual free site. You don't need a credit card to get your report, but you do need it to get the score(s). Each of the three agencies Transunion, Equifax, and Experian has a different scoring system and they charge you something like $10 each to get the score. But you can certainly get everything else for free. This will allow you to see what accounts are listed on the report and the status of each one. The general idea I think is to allow you to spot fraudulent purchases or false information. I always hear on TV about the site: http://www.freecreditreport.com/... www.annualcreditreport.com You can get 1 credit report from each of the three agencies per year at this site. You aren't able to get the credit score for free anywhere, but you can get a free credit report and pay $7.95 for each score through annualcreditreport.com. The other option is to call each reporting agency and request the report and score be sent to you by mail which has the same cost. Websites that promise a free report and score, but just need your credit card info in case you want to keep it for longer are just scams - they are very difficult to cancel, and often end up costing $100 or more. |
