Do you think that on-line degrees should hold as much credit as those earned by normal college students? I think it really depends, I would say the short answer is no. Yes you are learning and doing course work, but college is also about being exposed to varying viewpoints and ideas. But of course having an online degree is better than no degree at all. Yes. I have had experience with both. Getting an online degree is just as challenging as actually going to a college. It is just as much work and to me really seems harder because you have to have the drive to do the work whereas when you actually attend a college you have a designated time the you HAVE to do the work. It is just more convienent for some to do it at home. As a current online graduate student, I can say yes my degree holds as much credit as those earned by normal college students. With college campuses overrun with students, more and more of the bricks and mortar colleges are offering online degree programs. Even exclusive colleges as Harvard and Duke now have some sort of online program. I think it depends on the online college that you are looking at and depends on the employer. As long as the college is accredited by one of the regional bodies recognized by the US Department of Education, then the college should be considered as being just as credible as the next. |
