As a merchant... when customers pay by phone using credit cards. do i write on the signature line? We write "Phone Order" in my business. wrtie on the ticket "phone order", and any info you can get phone #, then call them before your run the transaction to verify, date, time, address, driver license # etc. you have to keep those for 2 or more years incase of a dispute of charge. the more info you have the better off you are. i know it's alot of extra steps, however you have to protect yourself, as much as the customer. i really appreciate this "courtesy", and my REAL customers do too! You're not supposed to but if you write anything write S.O.F It means Signature On File |
