Credit repairs are a rip off. There is nothing they do that you can not do yourself for free.

Only things that are incorrect can be removed from your credit. If you have something on your credit that is wrong, all you have to do is contact the credit bureaus and dispute it, they have 30-days to prove it correct or by law they have to remove it.

Other than that, the only way to repair your credit is pay your bills on time every month and wait for the negative stuff to drop off, and that takes time.

She did not ask about credit counseling, she asked about credit repair. Credit counseling doe's not hurt your credit score, it shows that the accounts are being managed by credit counseling.

Credit repairs hurt you more than they help you. They may help you get the things paid off in the long run but they require you to close all your accounts and most of your paycheck goes to the payments. What if an emergency occurs and you have no money?! Also, the credit repair companies put a comment on each tradeline (I used to work for a main credit bureau) that states you are in credit counseling which affects your score like bankruptcy. As long as you are in the counseling, your score will be low and you will have a hard time getting credit.
