Do credit repair company's really work?

Be cautious, very cautious. I used a non-profit organization years ago and they help me. They didn't charge any fees and didn't penalize me for paying off any debts earlier then agreed. They simply contacted the creditors to basically vouch that I would pay this minimum amount each month. I was able to pay everything of in a reasonable amount of time. However it seems many places require a fee and some will charge you extra if you don't follow their plan specifically. They also will close the account if it is not closed. Mine were already closed so it didnt effect me, but if yours are not do not do it. Some will dispute all your creditors to get things pulled of your report. This is good if it works because of the 30 day rule, but if it doesn't, you could possible be opening a nasty can of worms. Suggestion ---- do as much research as possible because you can probably do the things these companies do on your own. Ask about payment plans -- taking off late charges -- dropping interest -- and contact them as soon as you foresee any potential problems in payment. Also remember to get things in writing -- Have them or their supervisor mail or fax you documentation about any arrangements. And finally keep a contact ledger to know who, when, and why!!

No they are a scam. Don't pay them anything.

I have herd that most are a scam, and was told only high power company's like people that do 401k's , atty can do this ,and fact nothing can be ever wiped away , the only can add addendum's , so unless you have come into a bunch of money don't wast your time with these company's they are a ripoff, in fact the bad always will be there and they add like person paid off this bill this year and and such there are credit rebuilders but you need to pay off old debts, and if you win the lattery then evry one will send you a credit app , it sucks but that the truth, only the rich make it
