Are the credit repair programs worthy ? |
I have had a few people approach me about paying $250 for their credit repair service and it would help to increase my credit score....how does this service work? NO NO NO you should NEVER have to 'pay' anyone to 'fix' your credit!! just be smart about it. pay current bills on time. don't accumulate new debt. work at paying off old debt. contact creditors directly and explain the situation they may work out a better deal with you. sometimes you can pay off credit card debt at a lower settlement. but you do not need to pay anyone to do this! No.The best way to a higher score is to pay your bills on time and never owe more than 20% of your credit line. Please read the Federal Trade Commission link (below) on credit repair services. If you must use a credit repair service, go to the Department of Justice link (also below) and find one of the ones they have approved of for debt counseling. At least you have a decent shot of getting an ethical one that way. A lot of them are total ripoffs. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/cred... http://www.crimes-of-persuasion.com/crim... http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/... Bad idea. . .usually those kinds of services are ripoffs. try www.creditboards.com --you can do it yourself--its a lot of info when you first start to read--but it's knowledge that will help you now and in your future. I am successfully in the process of repairing my credit now |
