Questions about Credit Repair? |
Hello. I have good credit...over 760. However, I want to improve it further. I looked at my experian report and I noticed a couple of things: 1. I closed some credit cards accounts 3 years ago. They are scheduled to be removed from my report in 7 more years. Is this normal? Can I have the credit card companies remove the entry sooner? 2. I noticed on some old account that is says the Credit Limit on a credit card is "N/A" but then they state that the high balance is "$1000" or something like that. Would this cause a probem? Should I contact the credit card company and have them accurately reflect what my original credit limit was? or will this reset the clock until these cards drop off of my credit report. Are there any other ways to boost my scores? Thank you. Yes It is normal for accounts to take 7 years to be removed. Creditors will not remove the accounts sooner, but this is what you can do. The accounts that you would liked removed call the creditors and see if they even have records of the accounts anymore. If they show the accounts closed when the bureaus are showing them open, get letters that state that. If they can't locate any accounts under your name, ss# or account # that is being reported , get them to send you a letter that they have no account located under your name, SS# or account name reported, and send them to all three credit bureaus. n/a means not available and amounts in the high balance it doesn't affect your credit. Accounts that are open and aren't being used affects your credit so close any accounts that you aren't using. Another is do not apply for two many things but that can also affect your credit. For example, if you are shopping for a car do not let them pull your credit if you already know your score and have a recent report give that to them. The highest score you can get is 800, so a score of 760 is excellent most people only have a score around 675 or 700. Just keep paying your bills on time to keep your credit good... Good luck... Source(s): My source is me I worked for a credit reporting agency and I did investigation for over 10 years... each time the credit car company updates your account they add 7 years from the time of the update. bull s... i know .however each month send experian the same letter saying of the mistake and after a few months they will delete them also when you send the letters send them individually .i would leave the credit card company's out of. your score is good most people say pay your payments on time but there are other ways to creditors like to see high limits available to you but not being used show you have restraint . they do not like allot of inquiry's either as long as your old credit card accounts are in good standing it is not a problem- they should stay "account closed' I actually closed a credit card that I had for 15 years in good standing but it hurt my score because I erased some of my longest standing credit history- closing a credit card can actually lower your score-they reccomend you keep your oldest accounts(in good standing) and if you have too- close a young account. cridit history is a big factor. I use to have very bad credit, this is what i did. A friend suggested using, www.repairmyfinance.com. Its an info web site you do have to pay like 15 bucks in order to access there 295 pages of info but its worth it. They walk you thourgh the steps in order to rebuild your credit. I got my first credit card in about a month. Oh and by the way there no such thing as someone els repairing your credit for you, they are all gimicks. personal experance |
