What are the best credit repair companies that I can use? You can do everything credit repair companies charge you for yourself, you just need to know where to look for ideas. A good place to start is www.creditboards.com/forums, there is an entire community there filled with people in your same position. Credit repair companies charge you an arm and a leg for something you can do yourself, not to mention the fact you even used one gets put on your credit report... None - most are scam artists with false claims and suck money from you. There are no "magic" or "miracle" fixes. It takes time and an consorted effort on YOU to: 1. Pay your bills on time, every time. 2. Put away the credit cards, live within your means. If you can't pay for it now, don't buy it. 3. Dispute inaccuracies yourself and be persistent. If you are really in a bind, review your credit with an accredited credit counselor that you can meet with in your community - for free. Just be really careful -- there are too many predators out there. Here is some great info. I used to do credit repair for my clients and didn't charge a dime. Just go to the web sites: www.experian.com www.transunion.com www.equifax.com Dispute all the derogatory items. This will take off a 1/3 of the items the first time. Then do it a 2nd time. After 2 times let it sit for a month then do it a 3rd time. If you have proof that some of the items are not legitimate on your credit history then you can send it to them. Make sure you save all communications and receipts that you paid.
