Any one used Lexington Law for credit repair? |
I found another site for a person who used them and how great they were but I just wondered if anyone has used them? Which plan they used? And how long it took to see stuff being deleted from there credit report? Thanks I agree completely with LadyLisa...but with this warning: She appears to be using the "dispute over and over" method. In the past you could just keep sending in dispute letters to the credit bureau, and hope that after investigating the same complaint over and over they would just delete the entry to get you off their back. That doesn't work any more. In 2003, Congress pass some new laws. One of them gives the credit bureau more freedom in ignoring "frivolous complaints". After 2-3 complaints they will ignore all future letters from you. That can make it difficult for you to delete legitimate entries. Note that no matter what you do, and no matter who does it, if the entry is "fair and accurate" there is no way to get it deleted. It will remain for the 7 year reporting period. This is a fact that many "credit repair" companies fail to tell you. They will gladly take your money and do thing that you can easily do for yourself. Do this: When you go to a credit repair company, ask them to sign an agreement saying they will increase your credit by xxx amount. They won't do it. Why? Because they can't possibly guarantee it. As for Lexington, at least they are honest. Most of the self-help info I have came from this firm. I suggest you try to fix the problem yourself first, then if you are running into problems get some assistance from these people. Sample validation letter I've never used Lexington Law; however I recently started working on rebuilding my credit. I disputed 9 negative items on my credit report. The 1st dispute I got three items removed. I re-disputed the 6 remaining items and I got 2 additional items removed; I'm working on my third dispute. Within 5 weeks my credit score increased 25 points. I joined freecreditreport.com ($12 a month) and they offer an on-line dispute process for Experian. Once experian removed an item, I sent a dispute letter to transunion and equifax and they removed the items from my credit report with their agency. I recommend doing it yourself; companies that specialize in credit repair have numerous clients, so you will not receive their undivided attention. By doing it yourself you'll have more control, but most importantly your service is free. |
