Ho do i clean up my credit without bankruptcy or credit repair companies?

Ho do i clean up my credit without bankruptcy or credit repair companies?

If your asking this question then it leads me to believe you're already in credit trouble. Therefore, I would not risk damaging your credit further by seekng more credit. It is possible to clean your report of inaccurate information by yourself and without the help of credit repair companies or filing bankruptcy but it's going to take a lot of hard work and commitment from you. It will not be easy and cannot be done overnight. You will need to evaluate what got you to where your at in the first place. Make a budget, get current on your debts; then start by getting a copy of your complete credit reports from the 3 bureaus. Then you want to opt out at 1-888-5optout. Go to www.creditboards.com and go to forums; read, reread, and reread again the newbie section. They will help get you going on your credit repair journey and you will have great pride from knowing you did it yourself and without losing money by paying a repair company for doing something you can do on your own. Good Luck! Source(s): www.creditboards.com
Hopefully this can help:) My best advice is to try for a balance transfer on the current credit cards you may have. The best is a company offering something like 12 months of interest free transfer. If you haven't already received these kinds of offers in the mail already you can find them online. Then you have a year to make payments with no interest fees...( pay as much as humanely possible during this time because it all goes to the principal)Finance charges are eating us alive..ugh... If you find a company to take on the charges. Pay down as fast as you can and don't run up the empty cards...Best to get rid of the ones that charge a monthly fee..or if they all do just keep a couple that you've had for the longest time...if your unable to find a company to offer you this..the next step would be to hang on to all the credit card offers you receive from other companies...they come every single day in the mail..seems like it anyhow....With these in your hand call your current credit card companies and tell them that you are considering transferring your debt to someone else...you can truthfully tell them about the offers you have in your hand. Tell them you really don't want to move your business away from them but these offers are beginning to be too hard to pass up...Ask them what they can do? Maybe waive the interest on your account for the next 6 months?( how awesome that would be!) Or maybe lower the interest period? Oh!!!! I almost forgot be sure to ask for the supervisor when you call your credit card companies...usually the person answering the phone doesn't have the authority to make these changes to your account.
Your local Credit union is another way to go...If you don' have an account already...get one....You can go in and apply for a personal loan...explain that you want to pay off your credit cards...if accepted...they even write the checks to the card companies...this leaves you with no accidental spending of the money...:)Hope this helps..Good luck to you!!! Happy Valentines Day!!! :)

Avoid making unnecessary requests for credit extensions. If you are trying to buy a car or house, try to make all applications so credit will get pulled in about a 12 day period, for minimal damage to your credit score.
Begin paying off/paying down revolving accounts, but do NOT close them out. Ideally, you would want to have one card you use on a monthly basis, paying off the balance each month, with the balance never exceeding 30% of the credit limit. Save for emergencies so you can avoid the credit card trap. Make all payments on time. Avoid collections & judgments. A mix of revolving and installment accounts is good, but your score can be adversely affected by having "too many finance company accounts"--how much 'too much' is,is unknown. If you already have collections, you may want to try to settle with the creditor for less than the balance owed, but you'd need to have the creditor put in writing that they will report your account as PAID IN FULL or $0 balance-- [NOT 'settled' or other wording indicating a short payoff]. On new credit, make sure the creditor will report a HIGH CREDIT or CREDIT LIMIT figure to the bureau--you don't want that field blank.
Remember: you can't get accurate information deleted, you can only work on cleaning up historic derogs as much as possible, making current debts 'good' references, and keeping clean going forward. Co-signing for someone else is not a good thing unless you are prepared to step in to pay the debt yourself. It takes time, and there is no easy or quick fix unless the information is inaccurate.
