Has any one used one of these credit repair places and if so did it work?

Yes, it works but it does cost money. I have used www.successcreditservices.com and they were able to bring my wife up 100 points.

They are mostly a scam
This is something that you can do yourself. If you don't already have your credit reports in front of you, you can get them once a year for free at this website https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i... When you get the reports go over them thourghly, make sure all things listed are yours and that they aren't listed more than once, that the correct information is listed. If anything is wrong each agency has a form you fill out to report any errors, they have 30 days to respond to you and take off the misinformation. Sometimes it takes a couple of letters to each company, before everything reads the way it should. This is what a credit repair company would do for you, but you can do it yourself. Now for things that are correct but old, but don't make the 7 years it takes to take them off legally. You can write to the company that is reporting the information(using the address they provide for themselves to the credit agencies) asking if they can remove that tradeline. Send each letter you sent delivery confirmation, make a folder for yourself and save that info. Keep in mind that if you do not hear fom them in 30 days they must comply, then you would write a second letter stating you received no response and your 30 day period precribed by law has expired. And accordingly I am demanding that you remove the information set forth, once again, due to your non-compliance. Then list (once again) the items you told them that were inaccurate the first time. Also on a personal note my mother used a credit repair agency that seemed very legal at the time had commercials, radio ads etc.. Well they stole her identity/ She wound up trying for years to repair the damage they did to her credit. Good luck.
