How to repair your credit?

Once you have paid off your debt how do you increase your credit score

Use your credit and pay it off every month. This shows that you can use and manage it.
What i did i had to file bankruptsy in Feb. got credit card by Sept. Keep bills paid on time. I am in the high 600's now.
It takes time to repair your credit. If you have other debt just keep making payments on time. If you need to purchase a car, monthly payments can help rebuild your credit. Using a credit card can help you as long as you keep a low balance and keep the available credit under 25% of the limit. If you don't have a credit card and are unable to get one at this time, you may be able to get one that is secured. Basically, the way these work is that you make a cash deposit and that is the amount of your credit limit. When the bill comes, pay the balance off in full. Never charge more than you can pay off at the end of the month. You should start to see some improvement within a few months.
Make all payments on time, avoid opening new accounts, and don't carry large balances on credit cards - those are the 3 main factors for increasing your credit score. It takes time for credit to repair itself, but by keeping the same accounts, paying on time and making sure you do not max out your revolving credit, your score will increase.
If you are debt-free, you can also take out a small personal loan, say $10,000, and pay that back to the bank faithfully (no missed or late payments). That will raise your credit score.

You can buy a car with financing, pay the auto loan over the life of the loan (usually 3-6 years), with no missed or late payments, and that will also raise your credit score.

You can apply for a gas credit card, one of those credit cards that you can get at a gas station. They usually have low maximum balances, and you can establish a credit history with them.

However, if you are shopping for a house and need to show that you have a good credit score, do NOT shop around for a loan. You need to use one mortgage broker who will shop around for you. If you show multiple inquiries on your credit report it suggests to potential lenders that you are trying to seek more credit, and oddly enough your score will get worse.

You can check your credit report for free, once every 12 months.

Also, frequently moving your residence may decrease your credit rating as well since credit is built up over time, when you show stability and financial responsibility.

Having an excellent credit rating is not a privilege, you earn it and you learn how to manage your own finances.
I was able to repair my credit just from reading credit message boards and forums. I have listed a few. Just by reading and gaining knowledge, I was able to bring my credit score from 560 to 704. It takes a little work but it's worth it.
