How long does it generally take to repair bad credit? and how do you begin to do so? If your main objective is to increase your credit score there are ways of doing this that take very little time. 4-5 business days. I am a mortgage broker and use a program called CreditXpert. Basically, you can run scenarios on your credit to see how it will effect your balance. Many times paying a couple hundred dollars on one card or transferring a balance from one to another can make a significant difference. I had a client that paid a 500 credit card down to $15 bucks and it increased his score by over 60 points. Very significant and it only took a week. There are so many things that make your credit score high and low that it really helps to have a tool like this that you can play with to see what will happen to each bureaus score.
