Why do I see creditors on my credit report I paid off over 7 years ago?? How can I get those off my report??

The credit bureaus says they take off creditors who were paid off over 7 years ago...I have creditors on there from 10 - 12 years ago still on the credit bureau reports...also alot of duplications of a company who changed their name...This is never ending...Any suggestions appreciated..I have a myannual free report and a fico one and also one thru my bank that is free...All are different...which one is the true one creditors will look at?

Are these items negagative ones? Like Collections, charge off's or late payments?

Or are they just old lines of credit that you paid off without a problem?

Good line items will stay on for 10 years or more, and you DO NOT want them to be deleted. Those show your good credit history and will have a good impact on your credit score.

Negative items must be deleted after 7 years, beginning from the date of the delinquency. To get those removed, file a dispute with the credit bureau (use your annual credit report ones for this).

If, after you dispute them, the credit bureau still will not delete them (the creditor probably verified the info), then you need to send a demand to validate letter to the creditor.

you can write a letter to all the 3 agencies and request them to be removed, ask for proof of them and they will more than likely be removed..
