Can Lawyers legally access your credit report just because they have sued you before?

I took a look at my credit report and found out that a lawyer who sued me before had requested a copy of it. Can they legally search for other debts you owe and go after you for it? To me the companies should go to them not them look at my credit report without my permission and invade my privacy. Now the same Lawfirm is sueing me over another debt. Is there a way to protect myself from this?

Companies you owe money to frequently hire collection agencies and law firms that specialize in collections to go after you, based on the personal information you gave the company at the time you incurred the debt. There is no breach of privacy because you freely gave the company your name/address/etc. when you purchased something on credit, and all they are doing is enforcing their rights, not selling your information to a mailing list company for profit. Time to pay up.
It is perfectly legal. Break the law and you have no privacy.
