Help with possible errors on credit report?

I just pulled my credit report from Equifax, and there are a few things wrong with it and I am looking for the best way to proceed. 1.) there are some accounts that I have balances on them and they are opened (these are credit cards) and the credit limit shows on the report as $0, is this a problem? I would think so since it shows a balance against a zero limit. 2.) A couple of accounts have been closed for a few years now but everytime I pull a report there is always a recent date reported list, for instance these two accounts show up in the closed account section of my report but the reported dates our 07/2007 even though they have been closed for a few years. one of these accounts shows 60 day late payment in 2001 so with the updated report status this will be on my report much longer than it should be. How should I go about fixing these errors? Thanks

In regards to the 60 day late payment in 2001...the credit agencies will go by the date the account was closed not by the date the account was updated. So don't worry about the late payment staying longer than it should. I had the same issue. But once closed the account cannnot stay longer than 10 years. So not a whole lot you can do there. As for the other errors...dispute them. But make sure the person on the phone your talking to knows EXACTLY what you are wanting to doing other wise they will just dispute the whole account in general in which case nothing will change. I had the same problem. I wrote a letter asking for all the corrections. I got closed accounts taken off, mistakes corrected, however, my score went from a 643 to 557. I was devistated. So just be cared and make sure the mistakes are worth your score going down.
