How can you get your free credit report, without paying for it ?? |
How can you get your free credit report, without paying for it ?? The US Government has mandated that the three major credit bureaus offer the service to everyone in the United States once each year. The name of this site is www.annualcreditreport.com. Since it is government mandated it requires a whole host of hoops to jump through. You do not actually get your credit scores, and it can take 7-10 days to receive the information. All in all not very consumer friendly. Guess that is what happens when a big company is required to do something they do not want to do. Here is how I got my Credit Report and Score from all 3 bureaus for free. I went to http://faqfaq.net/freecreditreport.html... and signed up for their service. It took like 3 minutes! They give you 7 Days for Free to try the service. So I just canceled the next day after printing out everything I needed. Easy and Free. i saw a commercial that said go to freecreditreport.com i haven't tried it though If you apply for a credit card and is denied, you can obtain a free credit report. Just follow the instruction on the document you receive which states that your were denied. you can get 1 free credit report every year from all three bureaus from: https://www.annualcreditreport.com... There is no other site you can get it from compleatly for free (entering no credit card number). the Freecreditreport.com is actually signing you up for a credit monitering service and will charge you like $50/month after the trial period expires. The only free service is annualcreditreport.com which the three credit reporting agencies are required to maintain and provide consumers one free report a year. A good tip is to get one credit report from each of the agencies once a year, spacing out your requests every 4 months. By doing that you can also monitior your credit for errors and identity theft too as if it is reported on one it typcally is reported to the other agencies. www.annualcreditreport.com free credit score, see link at www.waterfieldcredit.com I worked for a loan company and to pull credit, we always used Transunion. You can call 1-800-888-4213 and it will ask you for your information like birthday, SSN, name, address and will send you an application within 2 weeks. It asks to send a copy of your identification with something that has your SSN and current address on, such as a W-2 form or an earnings statement to make sure that it's really you. Then you send that application in and you will receive your credit report. Just beware on pulling your credit often. It lowers your score. |
