How do you remove a 90 day late on your credit report? |
I had a long a arduous time with Verizon DSL and home phone service. To make a long story short, I signed up for DSL and when the package came, I learned it wouldn't work with my computer so I sent the package back and asked for a refund. They agreed (over the phone) to reverse it. I kept seeing bills for the fee and called twice more to have it removed. I just called my bank to get a personal loan and they notified me that I have a 90-day-late from Verizon on my credit report. How do I fix this??? Well, this is going to be a pain. But, it is worth it. First, you can't ask for a "refund" if you haven't paid. So, you need to change your terminology to a credit. Understand that all these companies have clerks that talk to you over the phone so what they promise you is worthless. Next week that person probably won't even be there. Get on the phone with a manager. Request in writing a letter on Verizon letterhead explaining in detail what happened and that you owe $0. That you were not 90 days late. Your full name and account number showing up on the credit report. You must include those items. You will then make 3 copies. You will keep the original for yourself. Mail one copy to each one of the credit bureaus asking them to correct the reporting on your account. Send it certified mail receipt requested. To prove they got it. It takes 30 days. Do this as much as you have to to get it cleared. Don't expect them to jump through hoops. They don't care. You must be the persistent one. Good luck. Source(s): CFO, Mortgage Company You have to call Verizon to have them take it off. Document as much as you can. Hopefully you took down names of people you talked to, send it certified or some other way that shows you shipped it. Be prepared for a bit of a fight and lots of phone calls, document who you talked to. It happened to us with a company ( 30 day delinquent) when they cashed the check 3 days after the due date. Took about 3 month, but it finally got fixed. Call Verizon, they should be able to re age your account and "amend the buckets" so to speak where all your late payments will be deducted. This will rectify your credit rating. |
