Is there any way i can find out my credit score, not just the report, for free? |
Is there any way i can find out my credit score, not just the report, for free? There are, but I would advise some caution. One site is www.creditexpert.com which is run and operated by Experian. You sign up online and give them your credit card number and personal information, try out a credit monitoring service designed to help prevent identity theft, and in return receive a free credit report and credit score. The only problem is that you must cancel the service before the free trial ends (usually 30 days). If you forget, they charge your credit card automatically for 1 year of credit monitoring service. Also, to cancel the service you have to call the company and wait on hold around 15-20 minutes. I would actually recommend getting a free copy of your credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com and then paying only around $5 extra for your credit score per credit bureau. Source(s): http://www.creditexpert.com http://www.annualcreditreport.com... If you have recently taken out a loan, mortgage, bought a car, etc...the loan officer can usually tell you your score for free. I usually use http://equifax.com/ to get my credit score. It's only $14.95. I'm very sceptical of the web sites that offer to tell you your score for free. A lot of times there are some funky fine prints and other times they could be fraudulent. Keep in mind, you are entering in your social security number and other highly sensitive personal information. To avoid even the chance of identity theft, I'd rather go with a reputable company for $15. Just my 2 cents :) You can get your FREE credit report from >>>> please read <<<<< Important information from the Federal Trade Commission, the nation鈥檚 consumer protection agency: annualcreditreport.com is the ONLY authorized online source for you to get a free credit report under federal law. You can get a free report from each of the three national credit reporting companies every 12 months. Some other sites claim to offer "free" credit reports, but may charge you for another product if you accept a "free" report. <<<>>> As far as the credit score, I don't know of a company that gives it away for free. http://tileworkbypaul.com/ http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/fr... Go test drive a car. When they run your credit, ask for it. Make sure its a cool car. You get a your score for free and a fun ride. |
