Why is my apartment renter's history not reported to help my credit? |
Why is it if you buy or rent a house or buy a car that is reported for credit? I have lived in my apartement since December 2002 and have never had a late payment, but was told renter's history is NOT reported to the three credit bureaus. Why is this? Not really fair if you ask me. It used to be like that, until now.... PRBC is a credit reporting agency that reports non-standard payments like rent, electric, utilities, insurance, and other monthly payments and scores it in a report that can be used in addition to you traditional credit reports. Up to 3 years of historical payments can be reported and current and future payments can be made through their online bill pay through check free web. Source(s): http://prbc.com/ Who ever told you the world was fair? Rental history is never reported to the credit bureaus weather it's a house or a apartment or a car for that matter. Do not rent, buy. It's not reported, but it can still help you. If you can produce 12 months of bank records proving on time payment of rent it can help when applying for a home loan. It's not reported because it's not credit. Your rent is payment in exchange for using premises already secured by someone else's mortgage and/or title. It is not payment toward defraying unsecured debt in your name. That is why. Your rental history for a house or apt. is never reported to the credit bureau. When filling out a credit application, remember it asking you about who your renter or mortager was? They can always call them for information about your payment history. |
