I apply for a credit card, but don't want it anymore. How do a keep it form being on my credit report? Consider keeping it, and not using it. Unused credit access can actually improve your credit score. I'm not sure if you can keep it from being on your credit report, but you can certainly call and cancel the card. It will always show on your credit report. But what you can do is call the credit card company and cancel the card, on your report it will say credit line closed by consumer. But you do need some kind of credit to build up your score, so make sure that is what you want to do. Good Luck. you can't keep anything from going on your credit. it's there to stay. just keep paying on it until you cancel it. Ok first off you cancel your card. Its that simple If you have any outstanding balance it is going to be placed on your credit report no matter what if you elect to not pay it off. if you havent used it, then its not on your credit report, if you have used it, pay it off immediately, and then cut the card up. If you have applied for a card and it has been granted, it will appear on your credit record. But if you don't use the card, there will be no debt showing. To protect yourself, if you have asked for a card and no longer want it, don't just destroy it, contact the issuer and ask to have it cancelled. Identity theft is so rife today that an unused card can just be an invitation for someone to rack up huge debts in your name. And that WILL mess up your credit report. |
