Whats the best way to see if I qualify for an alternative loan without getting a hit on my credit score? Check your credit score (a true FICO score) yourself first, and tell the lender the score. As long as you dont give them your social, they cannot check your credit. Tell them you need to prequalify based on that score number. And they should tell you what your loan will look like based on that credit score. you can then make a decision about accepting the loan or not without them actually checking it.
