I have a credit score around 635, is this a good score to get a decent auto loan?

The score is enough to get a loan, but the rest of your credit report will also help determine at what interest rate. To my understanding anything over 580 can get you a loan but there are many other factors. Length of time on job, full or part time, monthly income, other debts/bills, rent/mortgage. You will get the loan just keep these other things in mind when looking for your car. Another thing is to find the car of your choice first before letting every dealership in America run your credit. That's not a good idea.

And, as an added advantage, as you pay off that loan over time, your credit score will go up a lot more then it would have if you bought the car cash. Paying off debt on time over a period of time it what really boosts your credit rating and score.
This is a fair score, you will not get as good an interest rate as someone with say a 700. Check with equifax or another credit reporting agency, probaly the same one that gave you your score and find out what is bringing your score down so low and what you need to do to fix it.
You probably can get a loan but your credit score is not the best.
