Can i get student loans if i have a significant amount of currentt debt? |
I would like to quit my job and go back to college for my nursing degree. I have a good chunk of debt accumalated and I would need to get about $60,000-$80000 in loans to pay my bills while I attended nursing school for the next two years. My question is will I be able to get approved with my current debt? I think a very basic way to figure your chances is to place yourself in the job of a lender. Someone like yourself comes in, tells the truth and fully discloses all their debts, and wants to take out a very significant loan. Knowing you as you do....and sitting on the side of the table as the lender, what are the chances that the lender will receive prompt payments on the loan and that it will all be paid off on schedule? Do you have a reliable, on-going, consistant income to make high payments with significant interest? Think to yourself - exactly how will you do it. How would you convince the lender that you're not a risk? The answer you come up with will likely be very close to how the lender may look at it, if you are truly honest with the assessment. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! that sounds like about the dumbest idea i've ever heard.
