In the u.k, is private medical/dental insurance worth paying for?

Do you get a better, more efficent service?

you dont necessarily get a better service cos lets face it the NHS at its best is hard to beat - ie I am referring to our hard working nurses and doctors. Unfortunately it is straped for cash. Private you often get the same specialist on NHS and private - but private means you can get treated immediately.
My dad needed heart surgery and the waiting list was 18 months long, it took a lot of thought, and he still felt bad about it, but he had insurance and decided to go private. He was back at work well within 18 months, and they discovered a complication that could well have killed him if he had waited that long.
Shame on the powers that be that have destroyed our NHS.
Ya... Surely worth

only if you want Good medical and Dental service.
Yes, its definately worth it, especially with the state of the NHS now!

You get a much better service if your treated privately, and in the case of dentists, in some areas going private is the only way to get treated as the dentists aren't taking on new NHS patients.
Dental certainly as almost all dentists seem to be only taking private work these days. I really don't think that private medical insurance is worth paying for though.
the truth is ... depends on where u want to recover....private = your own room and vice versa..

as for the Dr.'s and surgeons, most of them work for the NHS anyway..
