Whats the best dental insurance to use for adult braces im 27? |
............ A lot of insurance companies won't cover for braces over 18/21 unless its for a medical reason. I had TMJ and still couldn't get mine covered. It is a common misconception that a person can go out and buy a dental insurance policy because they plan to have dental work done. It doesn't work like that. The only way insurance companies can make money is if they take in more than they pay out. So, if they can sign up a large group (like a big company), they figure not everyone will use it and they can make a profit. If one person buys a policy for say....$50 per month and gets $5000 worth of braces, they would lose a ton of money. The only way to get dental insurance to pay for braces is if you work for an employer that offers that as a benefit. Most orthodontists and general dentists who offer braces have some sort of financing plan available. Unlike other dental services, the procedure is not complete in one visit and they know you will be coming back to see them often - and will make your payments.
