LOOKING for full coverage health and dental insurance for an individual with AIDS?

You will have to sign up for the "Medical Pool" in your state. Every state has one and it is the last option for people who can't get medicaid (because of income restrictions) and are uninsurable because of health issues.

These "medical pools" are set up by the states bureaucracy and are usually administered by one of the insurance carriers servicing the state. For example, the Oregon Medical Insurance Pool, or OMIP, is administered by BlueCross BlueShield.

Joining your states medical pool will cost quite a bit more than what you'd pay if you could get traditional coverage. This is because it is guaranteed issue regardless of your health and annual losses are covered by the state (sometimes with federal assistance). Of course it's worth every penny when you consider the alternative. Typically you will only have a limited number of plans to choose from and the degree of comprehensiveness will depend on which state you reside in. You will probably be subject to a deductible and coinsurance.

You will probably not find dental coverage available. But again, that would depend on which state you're in.

Group coverage is also an option because it is usually guaranteed issue as well. Of course this is only an option if you work for a company that offers it.

Call the Dept. of Human Services or your states equivalent to get more detailed information on your states medical pool. Keep in mind, each bureaucracy will use differing terminology. Don't let the symantics confuse you. If you ask about the "insurance pool" they should be able to point you in the right direction.

DO NOT get a policy from MegaLife or The NASE. They are scam artists. That's another story though.
