Is it expensive (assuming I have dental insurance) to treat lock-jaw? |
Is it expensive (assuming I have dental insurance) to treat lock-jaw? Most insurance doesn't cover it. You may be looking at anywhere from 300-500 to have it treated. Lock jaw is tetanus and it is a medical condition not treated by a dentist nurse My husband was issues a mouth piece from a oral surgeon. It was under $100, but he did not have a bad case. If you are refferring to TMJ - the jury is out on surgery effects and medicines. Lack jaw, in itself is treated not by a dentist, but by a specialist. A periodontist may review your case - but a bone or muscle surgeon would be needed. In either case - insurance will cover a portion of the cost of surgery. it is often fatal. its not treated by a dentist but a doctor. I'm assuming you aren't meaning tetanus, but a locked jaw. which is a muscle spasm or dislocation of the jaw. athis also is best treated in the hospital emergency room since a dentist doesn't have the necessary muscle relaxants and pain meds needed to fis the problem. It can happen any time you open your mouth too wide. |
