Are there any programs to help people that cant afford any dental insurance in dire need? I live in Baltimore and when I was a child my mother took me to the dental school ( I think it was Johns Hopkins or U of MD, not sure.) I am pretty sure it was offered as low cost solution- and they are normally advanced years students- but still under teacher supervision. Check to see if you have a dental college in your area. Otherwise, some dentists will take people on a sliding scale. I have actually gotten dental loans thru my dentist with Wells Fargo before to get work done. You can also check with your areas health dept to see if they have any low-income programs. Source(s): none Any state insurance but good luck finding a dentist that takes it. Also a clinic but again good luck getting an appointment. Unfortunately, poor stay poor.. You could look into Vital Saving through Aetna. It's more of a discount program for dental expenses. The discounts are actually pretty good. You just have to find a dentist within their program, but there are a lot to choose from all over the country. I used it last year for a root canal and saved over 300.00 and only paid $79 for the year's subscription to the discount program. May I suggest to you Ameri Plan's discount benefits program. They do not have any restrictions on ongoing conditions and you can start saving immediately. The plan includes savings on dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic care. I'd check them out.
